On a rainy and cold December day last year, I visited the Prosthetic Organisation in the Zavidovići municipality, outside Doboj in Bosnia and Herzegovina. I was travelling with colleagues from the Norwegian Peoples Aid (NPA) who is one of the major partners working on clearing landmines in BiH.

The Prosthetic Organisation is led by Amir Mujkic and and is also run with the help of Nisvet bećirević, Džeil Ćosić and Izet Muhić. Zoran panić is also involved as the President of the local Landmine survivor organisation. They are all elected to do this job by the members of the organisation.

In 1993, the RVI (war and military disabled persons) organisation established a prosthetics factory in Zavidovici municipality, to help people who are disabled by landmines.
The factory has since produced more than 1000 prosthetic legs and the majority of legs are for people injured by landmines and other explosives of war.
