It was pleasure to meet and photograph Jane Richard Philips at her home and stables in Torino, Italy. La Madonna stables are amazing- around a hundred horses- and now also run riding lessons for all levels of horse riding. More to come on the Longines Ambassador later.

Bed for Janvier... I need your help...for 100 days!
Hello everybody,
I need your help.
Late last year, I was on my way to Rwanda around this time of the year. I visited with my friend Révérien Rurwanga and we visited his village, Mugina- where he witnessed the murder of his entire family. 43 people were killed in front of him. He was 15 years old.
Still. He considers himself lucky. He can work, he can drive, travel, go outside (He lost an eye and an arm...). Janvier, whom he met at the Red Cross field hospital was less lucky. She was thrown into a pit and got paralysed from neck and down. She was 11 years old. The result is that she has been in bed for the past 21 years, without the possibility to go outside. She lives in Kibungo in Rwanda which is near the boarder to Tanzania. It is also where there is a Chinese hospital located.
I bet we can go together and get enough money to buy a specialised bed for Janvier. She really deserves it. It will help her come out a bit and see sunlight sometimes. I therefor encourage everyone to help out!

Universal Children's Day.
For me, it seems children and education is not mentioned as much as it should be in todays media discussions on terror and migration. 20th of November marks the Universal Children's Day. Secretary-General of the UN, Ban Ki-moon says: "This year, I wish to emphasize the importance of ensuring that the commitments made by the international community to the world’s children are extended to a group of children who are often forgotten or overlooked: those deprived of their liberty."

"Life After Genocide" is on until October 30th. at the May Gallery, Webster University in St. Louis.
"Life After Genocide" is on until October 30th. I hope if you are in the St. Louis area that you get a chance to drop by! Make sure you pick up the booklet with the captions- it will help you read the stories. The kids in the picture is living in Musha, a small village not to far from Kigali. Many lives in simple ways and may survive on less then 150 dollars a year. Clearly, health care does not quite provide for the needs of many.

The Red Hat Society started a process of nominating a members to be the "Red Hatter of the year". "Nominees are made up of inspiring women who deserve recognition for the impact they have made in the lives of others." -Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Hat_Society)
Well, they certainly made an impression on me when I met them at a restaurant in St. Louis last week! Plenty of great spirit was present!
